These terms cover your use of Crew Smart, made by Yaw Works LLC ("we," "us"). By using the app, you agree to them.
The short version. You must be 18 or over. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users: post it and it is removed, and the account goes with it. Crew Smart Pro is a paid subscription that renews on its own until you cancel. And the app can introduce you to people, but it does not vet them, so meeting anyone is your own decision to make carefully.
Crew Smart is a companion app for flight crew. It reads your imported schedule, helps you find food near your layover hotel or the airport, and lets you rate places, keep a crew profile, post to other crew, message people you are connected to, and share your schedule with family. It also has an optional dating feature you can turn on or leave off. It is built for pilots and flight attendants at any airline, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any airline.
Crew Smart is for working flight crew and is not for children. You must be at least 18 to use it, and you must be at least 18 to use the dating feature specifically. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it. If you believe a child is using the app, tell us at support@crewsmart.org and we will act on it.
The app works right away with an anonymous account tied to your device. You can link Apple or Google sign-in so your data follows you to a new device, and you need a linked account to use anything social: friends, messages, posts and dating all require one. You are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method. We cannot recover an anonymous account that has been signed out of, since nothing ties it to you beyond the device.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and everything described on our deletion page goes with it.
What you write and upload stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to store it and show it to other crew inside the app, which is the entire point of a crew-sourced app, and to keep the copies our backups make until those roll over. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we are required to keep something as described below.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Do not post, send, or upload anything that is:
We remove content that breaks these rules and we terminate the accounts of people who post it. We do this without warning where the content is serious, and we do not owe a refund of any unused subscription time to an account terminated this way.
Every post, reply, message, and profile in the app can be reported, from the app itself. You can also block another crew member, which stops them contacting you.
We review reports of objectionable content within 24 hours and remove content and accounts where the report is founded. Reporting is not anonymous to us, but the person you report is never told who reported them. Do not use reporting to harass someone; we act on patterns of false reports too.
Because a report is another person's account of being harmed, we keep reports even if the account involved is later deleted. This is explained in our privacy policy.
The dating feature is optional, off unless you choose it, and can be turned off again at any time.
We do not run background checks and we do not verify that anyone is who they say they are. Crew verification, where a member has completed it, means somebody sent us a photograph of a crew ID badge that a person looked at. It is not an identity check, a criminal record check, or a guarantee of anything about that person's character or intentions.
Whether to talk to someone, share anything with them, or meet them in person is your decision alone, and you make it at your own risk. Meet in public, tell somebody where you are going, and stop if anything feels wrong. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for the conduct of anyone you meet through Crew Smart, whether online or in person. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Photos you upload as a profile picture or to a dating profile are checked automatically before anyone else can see them, and may also be looked at by a person if they are flagged. Do not upload a photograph of anyone who has not agreed to it, and do not upload a photograph that is not yours to use.
A crew ID badge photograph, if you send one for verification, is used only to confirm you are crew. It is never shown to another user and is deleted once the check is done.
Do not attempt to access another account, scrape or bulk-collect other crew members' information, work around a block, create a new account after we have terminated yours, or interfere with the app's normal operation.
Hours of operation, discounts, hotels, flight status, and ratings come from a mix of Google Places data, restaurant partners, aviation data providers, and other crew. We do our best to keep it accurate, but we cannot guarantee any of it is current. Always confirm hours or a deal directly with the business, and never let the app be your only source for anything safety-related or anything to do with your actual duty obligations. Crew Smart is not a scheduling system of record, and your airline's roster is always the authority on where you are meant to be.
Crew Smart Pro is an optional paid subscription. It is offered at $3.99 per month or $14.99 for six months in US dollars. Prices in other countries are set to the local equivalent and are shown to you in your own currency before you buy.
If we change the price, you will be told before it takes effect and the change will only apply from a following renewal, never the current one. Free features stay free: adding friends and using the app's schedule and food features does not require Pro.
Crew Smart is provided "as is" and "as available." We work to keep it accurate and running, but we do not guarantee the app, or any information in it, will be error-free, complete, or uninterrupted.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Yaw Works LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including reliance on hours, pricing, hotel, or availability information shown in it, or arising from anything another user does. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law, and if you live somewhere that does not allow these limits, they do not apply to you.
We can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless telling you would make the problem worse. You can stop using Crew Smart and delete your account at any time. The sections on content permission, liability, and governing law survive the end of your account.
We may update the app or these terms over time. If we make a meaningful change to these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page and tell you in the app before the change applies to you.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, except where the law of the place you live gives you the right to bring it somewhere else, in which case that right is unaffected.
Questions about these terms, or a report you want to escalate, can be sent to support@crewsmart.org. Questions about your data go to privacy@crewsmart.org.
